Petaling Jaya, 18 December 2010 - Christmas is a time to give; a time to love; a time for families and friends. So let us indulge in the spirit of giving by sending the underprivileged children to school fully equipped.
Over the last 9 years, Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd has assisted Siri Jayanti Association and Yayasan Maha Karuna in this Educare programme to care and share for the poor and needy school-goers. The objective is to ease the burden of poor parents by giving educational items to their school going children.
This year, ALL Parkson stores nationwide will participate in this programme as collection centres. The collection bin will be available in store for the public to drop their donations such as school bags, shoes, uniforms, stationary and other schooling essentials. Furthermore, anyone who wishes to donate cash or cheques could do so by obtaining the donation form which are available at any cashier and customer service counters inside Parkson.
In conjunction with the donation drive, Parkson is offering our shoppers 10% discount on Parkson School Shop & School Classic uniform purchases and collect 3X BonusLink Reward Points for every purchase made in Parkson's One Stop School Shop during this promotion period from 20th November 2010 to 6th January 2011.
“Parkson has always been an ardent supporter of this annual donation drive to help needy school-goers. Last year, Parkson collected over RM 100,000 worth of items through our 35 Parkson store Collection Points. This year, we want to bring more smiles to their faces.” says Mr Loh Chai Hoon, General Manager of Operation, Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Donation items from school uniforms to stationary sets will be handed over by Parkson to Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera during the ceremony.
The Educare Committee will distribute these collected donation items from Parkson; and various associations, organizations and parties at the Sri Lankan Temple, Sentul on 19th December 2010. Approximately 2,500 needy children in the Klang Valley area will be presented with the essential back-to-school items on that day. The remaining 2,500 children are from the rural areas around Malaysia.
Educare will not only lessen the burden of parents for the coming school term but will also bring hope to many families.
