Kuala Lumpur, 10 July 2014 – Parkson Holdings Berhad (PHB) today signed three joint-venture agreements to acquire  equity interest in Valino International Apparel Sdn Bhd (Valino), Giftmate Sdn Bhd (Giftmate) and AUM Hospitality Sdn Bhd  (AUMH) respectively.


Chairman & Managing Director of PHB, Tan Sri William Cheng signed on behalf of PHB with the representatives from the joint venture partners; Mr Tham Lih Chung from Valino, Mr Daniel Lim Guang Wei from Giftmate, Bapak Prawiro Wijaya from AUMH, witnessed by the management and staff of the organisations involved.


Speaking at the ceremony, Tan Sri William said “All these joint ventures provide synergy to Parkson Group’s existing retail locations and at the same time complementing the Group’s shopping mall and retail operations. They represent a new thrust for Parkson Group, providing a new business and income stream for the Group. These collaborations will enable the Group to target a new business segment in corporate gift sales, venture into the F&B sector, and also tap more effectively into the fashion retail market which complement Parkson’s current retail business, through both international brands and private labels.”


Apart from this, PHB had recently signed up with Watatime, a well-known watch retailer with 15 outlets throughout Malaysia; and Daphne International from Taiwan which is listed in Hong Kong, to bring in the Daphne line of footwear and accessories.

AUMH was incorporated on 28 September 2011 with its principal operations in the area of food, beverage and entertainment. Currently there are 12 brands under AUMH which includes “Johnny Rockets” and Quiznos from the United States of America, “Bumbu Desa” from Indonesia and “The Library Coffee Bar”, “The Library Restaurant & Bar” owned by AUMH, amongst others.


About Giftmate

Giftmate was incorporated on 2 October 2007 with its principal operations of producing branded premium and OEM premium gift related products which include items like “GoldArt” which are gold plated gift items, and “Zhuai Mao” (a popular cat figurine).


About Valino

Valino, incorporated on 17 May 2010, specializes in menswear and owns the “Kent” brand from Indonesia targeting young fashion office and leisure wear. It also markets “Geoffrey Beene”, a modern classic office wear from USA.


About Watatime

Watatime started as a wholesaler of watches, clocks and pens in 1972. In 1984, Watatime (M) Sdn Bhd was incorporated, dealing in importing, wholesaling and retailing of watches, clocks, pens, lighters and calculators. It has grown to become one of the major players in the local market with the aim of growing the business internationally, in particular within the Asian region
